Tonight I attended an event in Manchester held by the Manchester Young Professionals Network (MYPN). The MYPN is an organization started in 2004 “to create business opportunities, support community involvement and to foster an overall investment in the future of Manchester.” The event I went to was the MYPN’s Annual Summer Luau held at Jillian’s Billiard Club. At the Luau there was a cover band playing the usual songs you expect from a cover band, there was some food, a bar, and most importantly, a lot of people and everybody was there for the same reason – to network.
I had a great experience at the Annual Summer Luau and I met new people and got an opportunity to chitchat for a little about various topics. I also got a couple of new ideas for ways to find a steady job. Unfortunately for you, the readers, I will not reveal my ideas, at least not yet.
I assume that by now you are wondering what the point with this post is and I don’t blame you. I haven’t really said anything except for a short little story about an event I attended, but you are probably still waiting for the advice of the day. Well, here is the important part about this post and the message I want to get across to you: Always seize the opportunity to network. You never know who you will meet and what that connection might do for you in the future. Network, Network, Network!
There is my advice for the day.
